AV Tremissis from Anastasius I 491-518

    I got this one from Bertolomi Fine Arts in 2015

    AV Tremissis ND Constantinople Mint
    Anastasius I
    Byzantine Empire
    1.50g. 13mm.
    Coin looks way better in hand/ then sixbid photo anastasius-i-491-518-tremissis-constantinople-1660889-XL.jpg

    John, It looks like you scored another MS gem :D! It's amazing they could achieve such detail on a 13 mm coin, especially on the reverse :jawdrop:. It looks like the celator did a "touch-up" job on the obverse portrait .

    He became Emperor at 61/ ruled for 27 years. Back in those days getting to 88 was rare. He looks good on his coins to boot. One of the most able Byzantine Emperors:)
