Just won this AV Mohur 10.86g. struck AH1188 year 3 Kabul Mint Afghanistan (Durrani) Timur Shah 1772-93 KM-435 Album 3099 This coin even though "mintstate" is a very crude strike (typical of Kabul Mint) EX: Wilkes&Curtis/Album Auction.
Well, I still haven't seen a gold coin I didn't like. But, my poor old eyes need 'images', even abstract ones, to focus on..... However, I will gladly accept it as a 'gift'
Nice coin Panzerman. They are crudely struck whatever their grade. For an MS 67 coin this looks quite crude and off-centre. Worse than my much older Moghul mohurs. Auctioneer's Write-up Sher Ali gold Mohur AH 1288 (1871) MS67 NGC, Kabul mint, Fr-18, KM525. An exceptional example of this conditionally very rare one-year type. This is the KM plate coin and the only example certified in this condition by NGC, or PCGS, with none certified finer.
Beautifull coin, seems the Kabul Mint improved their minting techiques! I saw a Leopold I AV Dukat 1677 K-B (Hungary) rated as stempelglanz by Kunker (my coll) now. Kunker also had a "fast stempelglanz" same coin different year 1683... coin was in original MS-66 slab! Seems most European/British auction houses MS-67 or better = FDC/stempelglanz
Well I cannot see 18th or 19th century coins achieving much higher than an MS67 given the technology those days. The highest graded 17th century Moghul Mohur I have is an MS 66 and I've not found any graded higher than that one either. Equal but not higher.
