Well, I originally had placed a bid on a stempelglanz (FDC) Louis De Male AV"Franc a Pied" from Flanders/Low Countries in Kunker Auction. Well, my advance bid was WAY short of hammer price/ it went quadruple estimate! So, I glanced over the "unsold" lots.....and found a much rarer coin at quarter the price.

Coin was a Republic of Genoa (Anonymous Doges) AV Genovino ND 3.49g. struck between 1139-1252. Coin is a R-2/ plus this hammered coin even though crudely struck is graded "fast stempelglanz" So, even though I am flat broke now....still a happy collector. 05681q00-630x_.jpg

I happen to like ramen noodles. 'Tis the staple food of hotel night auditors. (At least this one.)

    I also like gold.

I more than like medieval gold. I love it.

Medieval gold in Mint State? Whoa.

I would love to see your collection, PzM, but if I did, I fear you'd have to keep a mop, bucket, and squeegee around to handle the drool problem.
