I hear you. I'm tapped out after my latest purchase, a tetradrachm of Athens with a beautiful owl reverse. Worth every penny though. But hey, there's always next month, and a new coin is always around the corner, so if not this time then the next.

A really super coin. Nice and big but must be pretty thin to weigh less than 4 grams even though it is gold.

When will the snow start falling and give you a little break?

Superb coin! This one with franc a cheval and rosenoble for me was a step on the way from russian imperial coins to ancients. But at the future I am planning to come back againe in gold middle ages coins.
    Congratulations!

Thanks for all the nice comments!
Yeah, I was out there yesterday "topless" doing my thing! Temperature hit 25 cel. (76F)....awesome to be outside. Trees are now in their full Autumn splendour, seems like September. Normally, we can work till beginning of December, before snow hits. Last year, I was working till Christmas! I remember cutting my lawn on Christmas eve, it was 21 cel./sunny/ and again was was shirtless. The Fall is my second favorite season, to Winter....when I am "unemployed".

A fine gold coin in resplendent Gothic style, and that in perfect condition. Great!

@Cucumbor - maybe you can answer one of my long-standing questions about French coins/references. Duplessey gives the date for this as 20 April 1365, but this obviously can't be taken as the struck date - I doubt they did it all in one afternoon! When cataloging, I've translated this as "Authorized 20 April 1365."
Is this correct? Any thoughts on why French numismatists don't give struck dates like with most other areas (ie, Struck 20 April 1635-mid 1368)?

Apparently you live in a different part of Canada (we had snow last week and it doesn't look like it's gonna be going away until May 2017)

Check the sign the hand behind the throne is making (on the right). It is the same hand sign as on the famous Alexander The Great fresco of the battle of Gaugamela

I'm not usually a big fan of the artistry of medieval European coins, but that is one nice-looking coin!
