Picked up this gem back in 2011. After Sulieman the Magnificent routed the Hungarian army at Mohacs in 1626/ Lajos II (Louis II) was also killed in this event....Hungary was annexed to the Ottoman Empire. Sulieman allowed the Transylvanian Princes to rule independent of the Holy Roman Empire. They were in reality, vassals of the Ottoman Sultan. In 1689/ Transylvania was absorbed into the Holy Roman Empire, and under Emperor Leopold I of Habsburg, following the defeat of the Ottoman armies.
I counted 246 "dukat" coins in my collection/ that does not include the 20 zecchini coins. Even more fascinating, the first dukats contained 3.48g. of gold/ the last ones from Alexander I of Yugoslavia/ circa 1931 still had 3.48, hence no infaltion.
