Love Albanian coins from the Zog years.

Funny, I had read he'd originally had the name Zogolli, but changed it to 'Zogu' in 1922--apparently to make a more 'Albanian sounding name'. But just yesterday I ran that one through a translator and realized Zog/Zogu means 'bird' or 'the bird', which makes sense with the double headed fellow on the reverse.

    Very nice!

Thanks! I agree, Albania produced its most beautifull coinage under Zogu. Sadly, after WW2 the Communists took over under the evil Enver Hoxha/ a Stalin lover.
Today, they are free of this scourge.
