Automatic schedule-slipping U.S. Mint

Somebody suggested this earlier, that the Mint is slipping the schedule automatically, so I did a check with dates for which I did a "track order" versus the expected shipping dates for my USMC commemoratives.

    Checked; Expected shipping date

    7-22-05; 8-6-05
    7-28-05; 8-12-05
    7-30-05; 8-14-05
    8-04-05; 8-19-05

Sure enough; the expected shipping date is always fifteen days from the date I check on status, at least in this limited sample.

I guess the proper strategy is to not check your shipping date. ;)

This is the strategy that I followed and it worked! Last night I got an email letting me know that my Westward Journey coin and medal sets had shippied (FINALLY!). This is a very good thing since I presold them on eBay LONG ago.

I guess I can try it for at least two weeks.

I peeked at my order status for the Ocean nickels that I placed today:
What the heck does that mean ? "In stock" implies they have them in hand, "reserved" implies they're saving them for me. If they've got them they should send them to me !
