Anyone seen those 1986-W signed by Gerald R Ford, $50 Gold Ounce.... anyone know about how much their worth and where i can get one....
This was a fad that started around 2001 and became popular for a year or two. You could get slabbed coins autographed by all sorts of people. For a while, the prices on these things were nuts. But people soon figured out it was nothing but a sales promotion and the only ones actually making any profit were those holding the promotions. Last I saw, 5 years or so ago, you couldn't give the things away.
Teletrade has these types of coins for auction all the time. Although I have never seen the Gerald Ford $50 bullion coin, I do regularly see the Sacagawea signature series coins and the Women in the Military Signature series coins all the time on Teletrade. Also the American Silver Eagle Signature series. Well it would depend if you want to combine 2 hobbies Autographs and coins LOL both have values but I doubt if they are what these folks would be asking :kewl: Over here you get combinations of 1st day covers of stamps with embeded coins issued on the same day and sometimes a sig thrown in. Initialy they sell for quite a few £ but then you can find them costing a lot less on the secondery market. So what I would say is if you realy do want a slabed coin signed by someone then buy it second hand LOL
