I was wondering if anyone out there could tell me what the values of my coins are... I have 3 Austrian coins 1..dated 1891, 1FL with a man's head facing the right on the front and what appears to be a double headed eagle(?) on the back 2..dated 1900, 5 Corona also with man's head on front and the eagle on the back 3..dated 1912, 2 Corona, man's head on front and eagle on back I don't know what they are made of, but all three have the same inscription around the outer edge "VNITIS VIRIBVS" I'm new to this stuff, so if anyone can help me I'd appreciate it! I also have a Republic of the Marshall Islands First Men on the Moon $5 Commemorative Coin 1989, still in it's packaging and 2 sets of US Mint Proof Sets dated 1991 and 1994... What's the good word? Thanks I can post pics of the coins if needed
Welcome to the forum loftcarly. One of the critical factors in valuing a coin is its condition or "grade". Without clear photos/scans of the coins it really isn't possible to give an accurate valuation. The two-headed eagle is a symbol of the pre-WW I Austro-Hungarian Empire. The bust is of Emperor Franz Joseph I. Krause # KM2222, 1 Florin, 12.34g .900 silver, mintage 4,235,000, $6 F, $10 VF, $14 XF, $25 Unc. Krause # KM2807, 24g .8350 silver, Franz Joseph I, mintage 8,525,000, $8 F, $12.50 VF, $30 XF, $75 Unc. Krause # KM2821, 10g .8350 silver, Franz Joseph I, mintage 10,244,500, $3.50 F, $5 VF, $7 XF, $10 Unc. "Commemorative" is redundant when applied to Marshall Islands coins, as they are all non-circulating, non-legal tender, issued strictly as a government money-making operation. There are strict limitations on redemption, and U.S. currency is the legal tender. You have KM#13, no mintage figure listed, valued by Krause at $3.50 Unc. The only price guide I have is an old Red Book, so someone else will have to supply values here.
Thanks for the welcome Satootoko! And thanks for the info. I will post some pics later to see if anyone can tell me if they seem to be in good condition or not...I have no clue. They look a bit tarnished but I know nothing about the proper way to clean them and so I'll leave them as is.
