I picked up this amongst a bunch of other coins the other day. I can see clearly it is a 1951 Australian Sixpence set into a 1923 Australian penny - but does anybody know what it signifies or why it was done? If there were some advertising included it would make more sense to me.
I don't know the significance, but I something similar - a 43 AUS 3 pence in the center of a AUS half penny.
It's pretty cool how the Sixpence fits perfectly inside the circle of the Penny.. I just found one put into jewelry
@PaddyB Just found this article - https://www.coinworld.com/news/worl...uck-in-unusual-metals--going-topical.all.html
It's kinda a tribute to Australia's first coin which is the holey and dump coin. An example can be found here: https://www2.sl.nsw.gov.au/archive/events/exhibitions/2012/macquarie/06_commerce/image03.html Counterstamped and punched out from various Spanish colony reales - these are VERY rare in any condition.
