Hi Everyone, I've bought the first 2 Australian Lunar Series 2 coins and wanted to put them in air tite direct holders. I bought a couple of the X.175 holders which are supposed to support 44 to 45mm coins. The Lunar Series coins are supposed to be 45.10 mm but when I put the coins in the holders there was extra space so the coins move around a bit. Does anyone know which air tite capsule I should be using for these coins? I appreciate any assistance. Thanks!!!!!
Seems these coins are not 45.10mm but according to the specs 45.60 mm. Maybe try the ring type AirTites. If there's any movement with the ring type, the coin would be cushioned by the ring instead of the harder direct fit type holder. Maybe the Perth Mint site sells encapsulation holders that will fit if you can't get an AirTite to work.
I know this is an old thread but never heard a definitive answer. Currently all the Series II coins I have are in the original capsules that they were shipped in. I want to transfer them all to Air-Tite holders but want to make sure I get the correct ones. The coins specs show the diameter as 45.6mm. The X3 direct fit Air-Tite has an inside diameter of 47.12mm. So it seems like it would fit. Has anyone used this size before with these coins? Do they fit? Is the fit too tight? Or should I go with the X2 which has an inside diameter of 47.63? Would that be too loose? I appreciate any info you may have!! Thanks!!
