Just thinking about australia and wondering about early issues. Does anyone know what is the first year they issued coins and in what denominations?
    No colonials please.
    Thanks,
    Del

In 1910 Australia made threepences, sixpences, shillings, and florins (two shillings).
In 1911 they added pennies and halfpennies.

For some reason, Australia never made halfcrowns (2-1/2 shillings).

    Thanks Guys,
My first rule of collecting is that it must be at least 100 years old, that being said, I am glad to have another country to add to my roster to collect in.
    Thanks,
    Del

I bought the 5 CD set of Standard Catalog of World Coins, 1600 to date, for $99 from http://www.krausebooks.com/

EDIT - Just checked, the no longer offer the set, you'll have to buy the CDs individually.

That's a nice looking circulated coin! These little silvers were low mintage & heavily used.
