Australian banks!?

    hi, Is there anyone from Australia that knows anything about banks selling old notes or coins because i seem to be having bad luck? :(

    Old notes and coins? How long are you talking about that Australia has switched to polymer and to nickel cupro coinages? 10+ years from the switch of paper to polymer and silver has been dead for exactly 40 years!

    If you want old notes, you are better off asking a dealer mate.

    OH i totaly forgot about that lol i keep on reading how people from the US get notes and coins from the bank and thinking why not do that in here :eating: thanks for reminding me lol

    Do not dispair. If you are REALLY lucky, you might be able to find the early variety of the first 5 & 10 dollar polymer note that was printed in Australia.

    I found one greyer pink version of the 5 dollar bill and the excessive blueish 10 dollar bill some time ago :)

    There is one lucky fella who managed to find a 1966 50 cent silver coin in circulation, but that was at least 2 years ago. Now most dealers and older generation like your dad would have some in their collection.

    You might want to ask your dad if he happened to keep some behind? ;)

    He checked and he had only one $1 note but i dunno which year because i am not much of a notes expert but i try to learn from him and the cointalk forums :)
