    Hi all,

I was thinking of springing for one of these strictly from an investment point of view:

What are your opinions with regard to its potential? In your experience, do novelty coins like these typically enjoy some appreciation down the road, or do they tend to lose value after the "coolness" factor wears off?

I appreciate all of your input!

I really don't see "novelty coins" like this taking off as an investment. As an astronomy buff, I'd love to have one, but I can't imagine most people would want to deal with a coin that's this awkward to store, handle or display.

I also can't imagine that the Queen's portrait on the convex side will be terribly flattering. Wish I could see some photos taken from an angle.

The shape of the thing, reminds me of the beggers coins on Byzantine Empire.

I wouldn't do that. If you like it, buy it. But if you are trying to make money on it, that is not a good bet for a coin, and coins themselves are not a very practical bet.
