australia shilling silver coin missing denticles?minting error?the ring of the error coin is still in perfect condition just like the normal shilling coin on the right,did not flat out on the surface.the obverse side denticles are thicker and longer compare to the normal coin.try your best to notice that.what happened to the coin?is this common for australia shilling coin?i think its double denticles on the obverse.please check it out and let me know what you think.its important.wish all of you happy new year thanks
Flame dot line? If you mean the denticles that are missing on the 1946 - the coin was struck slightly off center. It is likely does not add much, if any, premium to the value.
The missing and indistinct denticles is most likely the result of die deterioration. A less likely possibility is an accumulation of grease or oil along the perimeter of the die.
did anyone know whether this error coin common or rare?i just notice the rim of the error coin is difference compare to normal coin
