Austin Rare Coins Security Breach?

    Hi Everyone,

I received a couple of letters from Austin Rare Coins indicating that earlier this year they had a security breach and some of their customer data, including CC info, was taken. The 2nd letter I received from them advises customers to cancel the card they have on file with them and if interested to contact them to sign up for credit monitoring.

Has anyone else received these mailings? I have credit monitoring due to another incident with some of my information so I have not seen any suspicious or illegal activity on any of my credit cards or bank accounts. When I go to their website, http://www.austincoins.com/, it doesn't mention anything about this. I would think there would be some kind of link in case they missed alerting some customers.

I'll try calling them tomorrow and see if the mailings were legitimate or not. I was just wondering if anyone else had gotten anything from Austin Rare Coins in regards to this situation.

    Thanks!!

Perhaps the emails you are getting are not legitimate and they are actually a phishing scam?

If there was a link in the email itself I would highly expect that its phishing. When you call them be prepared to forward said email.

The most recent communication was actually snail mail so I'm not worried about phishing scam. I was just wondering if anyone else had gotten any similar communications.

Snail mail is used for phishing, too!
