I love Salonina--her coins are plentiful, varied, inexpensive, and interesting. I have a couple dozen of them. Here are a few various ones: Antoniniani: Sestertius: Alexandrian Tetradrachms: Big provincial Decassarion from Side in Pamphylia:
Nice addition. Salonina (254 - 268 A.D.) AR Antoninianus O: CORN SALONINA AVG, Draped bust right, wearing stephane, set on crescent. R: VESTA, Vesta standing left, holding patera and scepter. 3.4g 23mm RIC V 39A ; RSC 137

I'll throw in a provincial as well. SALONINA AE22. 4.96g, 22.2mm. TROAS, Ilium (Troy), AD 253-268. Bellinger T294; SNG Cop 443. O: CAΛΩNINA CEB, diademed and draped bust right. R: IΛ-IE-ΩN, helmeted and cuirassed bust of Athena right, wearing aegis.
We certainly have seen quite a range of faces here. We have cute and ....well.... not so cute. our new coin is a nice specimen but the portrait is not flattering. A popular reverse for her was issued during the low point of quality workmanship and reads AVG IN PACE. Some associate this reverse with theories that Salonina was at least sympathetic to if not actually a Christian. Does anyone have a full legend, well struck one?
haha! that's what i thought too Doug. when i got it today i thought.. hmm, she looks like Nerva on this one.

Yes cool addition, even though she sometimes looks strange on her portraits. The OP coin reminds me of a very old aunt we had in Corsica 50 years ago that we visited once or twice a year : I would never be the first to kiss her on arrival (she was a nice woman other than that though, poor thing). Her nose on the OP coin is - being careful to not cause offence because we are all unique and can't always afford surgery - HUGE!
I had one turn up in a bulk lot I bought a few weeks back. It's nothing special, suffers from an uneven strike and honest wear but has an elk walking right rather then the deer left variety shown above. A flaw makes her look like she's eating a gobstopper.
