I just won this large cent at this free auction site I found. Looks like deals are few and far between because those that sell overpriced coins that don't sell are not limited but what are your opinions about this draped bust large cent? Is the price a good price for it? Is this the 1807 comet variety it appears to be? I know because of the picture some letters are hard to make out like the word "LIBERTY". Is $18 a good price for it? I am a little leary about sending a money order but see the seller has good ranking.

    Leadfoot there is no spoon

$18 is a very good price for any draped bust copper.

I'm sure someone will come along shortly and help attribute it.

It is hard to see some things in the picture but I am hoping it is better in person. I see a glare across the "LIBERTY" but it has full date. I think it is at least a G and a I think I see a comet.

I've heard of wensy, but have never been able to convince myself to trust the site or the sellers.

I think you may be right, since the date is clear the over-date is easy to spot. I wonder why the Redbook and Numismedia are so far apart on what they list as the retail value? Redbook says $55 and Numismedia says $100 which means maybe $40 something?

I know what you mean especially because this seller only accepts money orders. With a credit card I can at least fight the charge if I do not receive the item. This is a good price but I am kind of taking a risk here. I notice that many sellers are just selling change, circulated clad halves and wheat pennies.

    Not bad for $18.
