So a long time ago (say, 1990s) at an auction, I picked up a small stack of books, including Penny Whimsy and Newcomb's hand-written Large Cent book. Someone recently asked me if I'd do Newcomb attributions for him, and I agreed and dusted off the Newcomb book, which actually wasn't dusty at all, because it fits very snugly on my bookcase. Anyway, I found it rather easy to use, even for the late dates (I'm used to attributing VAMs, which can be tricky), checking my work against Heritage auction records, but I see there are other large cent references that are more recent, and presumably illustrated. Should I choose to continue with large cents as part of my attribution service, I'll pick up the Grellman late date book, but which of the middle date books would people recommend, Noyes or Wright?
Both are excellent but Wright is easier to acquire and I think a little cheaper. Disadvantage, the white cover gets dirty easily.
