I decided to start collecting America the Beautiful quarters silver proof. 2010 came in red packaging and background but any other year is blue and I can't find any other year in red and from what I understand red is like 90% silver and blue indicates it is silver clad. I can't seem to find anything to understand what is going on with this series of coins and the real difference between red and blue.

The red and blue color scheme was merely an aesthetic choice made by the U.S. Mint to differentiate their products. The mint distinguished their proof sets in this manner from 1999 to 2010. Since then the mint has redesigned the packaging several times with minor differences to denote the clad and silver proof sets.

So which one should I be collecting? I don't want clad.

The packaging specifies the composition of the set.

There are proof sets and silver proof sets. Always look for the reference to silver. Each is packaged differently, learn the difference. And don't trust sellers. I've seen a lot of clad sets advertised as silver.

It's your collection so you decide what goes into it. Welcome to CT.

Well, they come in silver and in clad and you say you don't want clad. So let's see what other choice do we have.....
