My apologies if there are all ready other threads in regards to the America The Beautiful Quarters. I was interested in the Forum's opinion. Relatively speaking, the mintage's for the ATB quarters is relatively small. What's your opinion on stocking away a few Mint Rolls of these coins? Is it worth the premium you need to pay? The cheapest I've found a roll is is $14.99. Appreciate everyone's input. Susan
check around at some of the banks and see if they get rolls of the new quarters, a bank in a near by city to me does. Not mint wrapped but better than paying for mint wrapped.
I was hoping I could pick them up from local banks, but I hit all the banks in my neighborhood today and no luck.
Unless they are silver ATBs, the clads are not worth the time or trouble of stockpiling as they do not appreciate in value like the silver does. Too give you an example; back at the beginning of the year a complete set of uncirculated state quarters from either bank rolls or the uncirculated sets from the Mint, could be found on eBay, and other sources, for around $125 at the most. They're selling for less than $90 lately. Silver is the better way to go if you're looking for an appreciated value in the future. JMHO.
The lowest mintage state quarter was the 2008-P Oklahoma at 194.6M The highest mintage ATB quarter was the 2010-P Hot Springs at 35.6M
That's my point Sodude. The mintages are comparatively small on the ATB quarters, which is why I was inquiring if the group thought there was value to stocking these away. BUuncirculated, I have been accumulating the Silver versions of the coins!
I don't know about the silver versions yet because we don't know what the final mintages will be. If the sales surge then you will be paying a premium and you will only get melt value in a few years (like most of the state quarters). I'm not saying that will happen, but it could. As for the clad I think there is good reason to set them aside. They are striking so few of them that your average person won't come across one very often.
Yes, that's exactly what I'm thinking Sodude. Could be worth paying $14.99 for mint rolls of the ATBs being that these mintages are so low.
