Another coin I strayed from my list on because it was "purdy". My eyes aren't trained to toning, so I'll ask the pros. I'm thinking XF on this one, how about you?
Looks AU to me and yes it is cleaned. The obverse reminds me of one being polished, not positive with the pictures.
Sounds like I should have followed my gut on this one and passed. A little voice inside my head said "don't do it". Next time, I'll listen. Didn't have to have it that bad, ya know?
It looks to be cleaned and is washed out looking. I'm hoping you can return it for a refund or at least a trade. Bruce
I dissagree with the returning that coin pending how much you paid for it of course. If it was cheap enough, I'd keep it. I've purchased many claened coins since the price was right. Since I never sell coins, nor plan to, it makes little difference to me if a few were cleaned as long as not so harshly they look like the bumber of a car.
Thanks for the input. It only set me back like $12-15, don't remember exactly, and I did ignore my gut. I deal with this guy almost every weekend, so I'll point it out to him next time but not make a big fuss about it. It's not like he misrepresented and told me it was toned. It was just laying in a bucket marked 50% off it, so I bought it, even though my gut was telling me it wasn't quite right. If it were in the bucket marked 0% off, I definitely would have passed on it. Live and learn.
