Any ideas on the country of origin, date of issue, and approximate value? Not sure if they are coins at all. Maybe fakes. (asking on behalf of someone else) Coin #1.......... Coin #2............. Coin #3 Thanks!
#1 is from Japan. A 10 Sen - Y#49 - unsure of date but sometime between 1927 and 1932. $0.50 to $1.50 depending on date. #2 also from Japan. One Sen - Y#56 - 1938 to 1940. $0.25 to $0.75. #3 is from the Republic of China (Taiwan). 1 Chiao - Y#533 - 1955. $0.10 to $0.15.
Actually Y#45, cu-ni - identical design to Y#49, but minted during the previous Emperor's reign - dated Taisho 11 (1922) 25¢ G, 50¢ VF, $1.50 XF Aluminum, dated Showa 15 (1940). 25¢ VF, 50¢ XF. Aluminum, dated Year 44 of the Republic. The photo of the reverse needs to be rotated about 95-100 degrees to the right. The character now at 11:30 should be at 3 o'clock. If the picture is a direct flipover of the coin from the obverse picture, that's because partially rotated dies are not uncommon on Chinese coins of that period.
Really? You don't have to be ashamed if you've taken a first baby step into the wonderful world of the Darkside Jody.
Oh, collecting World coins wouldn't shame me at all. As a matter of fact, I have a big bag full of them. Never been one to follow collecting fads or trends, anyway.
