The coin is a 5 sen from Japan. This coin was minted from 1873 to 1892.

Y#22, dated Meiji 9 (1876), Type II (the characters just to the right of top center on the obverse are connected); 1.34g .800 silver, .0344 oz. ASW; mintage 5,546,000 (both types); $45 XF to $100 Unc. in the SCWC 19th Century 3rd Ed.

Is the coin tilted slightly in the picture? The rims look a little wider than they should, and the denticles aren't as crisp as I would expect for the overall condition. Hopefully it's just the angle of the picture and a soft focus.

    Thanx for the help

@Aidan: I was very busy - earning money for my collection, spending the money for coins, trying to find out what coins I bought, earning more money ...... ;-), vacation ..... you name it.
