Read the article folks. I remain optomistic..... http://www.numismaster.com/ta/numis/Article.jsp?ad=article&ArticleId=13773
Until the end of the year anything is a possibility. And even that wouldn't have to be the last word. It is highly unlikely but Congress could even pass legislation next year to allow them to strike 2010 proof ASE's in 2011, or 2009's as well. All it takes is a little ammendment slipped into some bill somewhere.
I know if they came out with one i would buy it. I love the ASEs and i think to proof would look gread.
You should read the article Ken linked to in the first post... It has been stated that the Mint could produce 200,000 per month if the coin legislation if changed to allow minting of the Proofs. Count the number of months left in 2010...
I wonder if they make the proof Eagles if they will also make the Burnished Eagles? Also if they do, i wonder if they will be limited to the 200k month limit like the proofs?
Again from the Numismaster link in the OP: If the Mint have to petition Congress for the authority to divert enough blanks to fulfill 200k Proof coins per month and are not mentioning the Unc-W coins it remains highly unlikely they would to be produced. Also from MintNewsBlog update: 2010 Proof Gold Eagles today, 9/7/2010:
As long as the price of silver keeps rising the demand for the bullion eagles will remain high and the chances for proof silver eagles will remain low. If you really want proof silver eagles the best chance of it happening would be if silver were to drop to say $12. When the price is high demand is also high , but when it drops considerable and people can buy it much cheaper demand tends to dry up.
