Ok, so maybe I'm just being crazy but as my dad always said it never hurts to ask. I received a 25th anniversary set in the mail the other day. When viewing the coins I tried to take one out of its hole to view the reverse. When putting my nail along the edge to lift up out of the hole I noticed the top of the plastic holder actually separating from its other half on the bottom. I immediately let go and fixed it. Now my question is, should I be concerned about possibly Accidently touching the coin in during all this or about exposure to gas during that brief 2 sec period? (I found later you could just flip the whole display lol) Again, probably just paranoia but I at least wanted ya'lls thoughts given the value of these sets and my hatred to future toning/issues especially on proof/mint sets.
I wouldn't worry to much about it. I've replaced capsules on ASE's and it hasn't caused any issues to the coin in my case.
tdog - Those coin holders are not airtight to begin with so the coins are constantly being exposed to the air. Store them properly and you'll be fine.
