The earlier coupons (the two lower examples) utilized engravings of a farm scene on the left and a family standing in front of a factory on the right. Both images were selected in order to evoke a sense of prosperity and industry. Citizen concern about air pollution was reaching a crescendo and as awareness grew they changed the engraving of the factory smokestacks and eliminated the smoke billowing from the stacks, as you can see in the top coupon.
