Take a look at all the coins this e-bay seller has that have ""Monster Tonning"" http://stores.ebay.com/AAA-Chickys-Nickel-Hut There is even a new Presidential Dollar thats Touted as a ""SPECTACULARLY TONED 2007 P GEORGE WASHINGTON DOLLAR"" It says MY CAMERA SEEMS BLIND TO THE BLAZING LUSTRE ON THIS PIECE. THIS PHOTO TRULY IS AN INJUSTICE TO THE EYE APPEAL OF THIS COIN. BRIGHT BLUES AND PURPLES COMBINED WITH A DEEP GOLDEN HUE. THE ASTUTE COLLECTOR OF TONES WILL NOT LET THIS ONE GET AWAY Here is the link to it... http://cgi.ebay.com/MONSTER-TONED-B...QihZ013QQcategoryZ523QQtcZphotoQQcmdZViewItem As you guys know, I'm still new to the and have a lot to learn... Can this be legit??? I hate to accuse someone of foul play....
I think that she is not only trying to fool the numismatic community, but she is really kidding herself in the process. It's a part of human nature,I guess. Aidan.
chemicals and heat, with silver coins a small amount of sulfer and a warm oven you can make beautifully toned coins
You know, I think it would be a neat experiment to play with toning and see what you can create (using coins that only have face value) but this is terrible. As of right now, that coin is over $10...I know there is a premium right now for these Presidental Dollars...but when you throw in AT, I think that is sad. Knowing it is AT...I'd probably give them $2 or $3 for it if it looked really nice/cool. But they are preying on people who don't know any better and that is wrong.
I have done the EXACT same thing with nickels and dimes, and got the EXACT same results. The only problem I have with this seller is he or she isn't saying that it is AT. He or she isn't saying it is NT, but still, not being completly truthful by withholding fact. Could be wrong, but that is my opinion. Phoenix
Gimme a friggin break! What a moron. THis person is an example of everything WRONG in our country. I have seen genuine toning like this on coins. But they are all 150 yrs old and silver. http://www.anacondararecoins.com/ This guys stuff is amazing. So are his prices!
LOL she likes you :hail: and lets all be honest here they are purty colours LOL I like willieboyd2 explanation, it is either that or she knows Dr Who  De Orc
I think everyone needs to cut this seller a bit of slack. There's no scam, they *are* toned. Now, they may be AT, but they *are* toned, as are their other coins. If this seller claimed they were *not* AT... *then* you'd all have something to post about. Quite honestly, anyone who thinks a 15 day old coin could possibly be naturally toned like that, doesn't know enough about anything to be buying coins. They're barely qualified to go to the bank and get 4 quarters for a dollar. So to answer your question... "Can this be legit???" Yes, it is legit, it is a toned dollar.
It doesn't bother me in particular if people want to pay a few bucks for a brand new coin with AT if they think it looks cool. Consider it paying the seller a small premium for the seller's service of taking the time to tone the coin. But, while we laugh at all these modern coins with AT, we need to realized the valuable lesson learned here. If these were 19th century silver or classic commeratives, would people be paying big premiums for these coins? Would this toning be hiding hairlines or other problems on the coins that an unsuspecting buyer would miss?
"You are great . They are stunning arent they !!! Ancient Chineese Secret." Ancient Chinese secret= Artificial toning.
