How do you insert arrows in photos? I can't seem to find charactermaps with the fine arrows needed. My Microsoft Paint is confusing and I'm unclear as to use it. zeke
Using paint you can't just insert the arrows - you have to draw the arrows. When you open Paint you'll have a tool bar with lots of little symbols on it. One looks like a pencil, another looks like a paint brush. You can use either of these, the paint brush makes broader, thicker lines and the pencil very thin lines. And if you use the paint brush you get to decide just how thick those lines are by selecting it on the little chart that opens below the icon toolbar when you click on the paint brush. You also get to select the color of the lines (when using either pencil or brush) by using the color chart toolbar at the bottom. Once you have made your selections then you place the cursor on the image and draw your arrows or circles or whatever by clicking and holding down the button as you draw. If you make a mistake or you don't like the way it looks, just click on Edit and select Undo and the last lines you drew will disappear. If you slect Edit and click on Undo again, the line made immediately previous will also disappear. This allows you take you image back to its original image. If you want to save your original unaltered image (with no arrows or circles) but also save the altered image with the arrows, then click on File, then Save As, and rename the altered image. That way you will have both - your original image and the altered image. Bout all there is to it.
Another option is to insert an actual arrow picture into your coin picture. You can search google images for arrows to use. Here is a link for arrows on google images in small format: http://images.google.com/images?q=a...a=X&ei=ypKUTaK4F8G_tgeQsJXrCw&ved=0CAkQpwUoAw Right click on the imgae and 'copy' then paste it in your coin image. Hope this helps.
#1 There are better photo editing programs to which you may have access. For example, your camera may have come with a photo editor on disc or you may be able to go to the camera manufacturer's Website & download a free photo editor. Normally, a good photo editor will allow you to more easily place an arrow & then copy & paste the arrow in different locations on your photo. People here can probably give you more help, but they will need to know which photo editor you get. #2 If your only intent is to email the photo to someone, then you can use Excel to place stock arrows on your photo. In Excel, you would insert the photo into a spreadsheet. You then just click on the arrow icon in the drawing toolbox & then click on your photo & you have an arrow. You can then stretch, shape, & position the arrow where you want it by clicking on it & dragging it around. You can also change the arrows thickness, color, etc using the other icons on the Excel drawing toolbar. You can save the excel file & then send it to someone by Email as a excel file attachment. They will open it & see the photo with the arrows overlayed on the image. Unfortunately, I don't know if there is any way to merge the arrows you have created into the image so they would always be two separate things only viewable together in Excel.
Thanks for the info. Please keep it coming. My only photo editor is PICASA3 with which I am very comfortable. Also, my main need for arrows is to use them on coin photos for the CT Forums. ------------ zeke
Aw shucks! Just use a Sharpie and draw the arrows right on the coin. The Sharpies come in many different colors. Just kidding, of course! Chris
