Newbie here! This site looks fantastic.
Recently started arrowhead hunting, and was working a farmers field that seemed promising. The second day out, I didn't find any arrowheads or pieces that had been "worked," HOWEVER,to my great surprise, I found a coin. Took it home; cleaned it up and satisfied myself that it isn't an American. Looks pretty old, but....There seems to be a date under what appears to be a warrior or a woman on one side; cannot read it. I know there isn't much to go on, but if anyone has any ideas, let me know. I'm trying to find out how to post pictures. Can someone point me in the right direction? Oops, I may have a photo posted. Will go ahead and post; see what happens.

Hi Gigster. Welcome to the forum.
You did very well with the picture, but a little more information is needed. The left-facing Britannia on the reverse, coupled with a left-facing bust on the obverse, is consistent with a coin of King George II of England, who reigned from 1727-1760. Typically British coinage depicting Britannia ( a symbol of Britain and its traditional mastery of the sea), does have the date under her feet, although in some cases the date is on the obverse and the denomination is under Britannia.

What is the diameter of the coin? Many coins of that era and later are very similar in design, except for size and denomination legend.
