the newly designed packaging for the 2007 (28 pc) mint uncirculated set will come out on october 9 (tuesday). any one of you would like to buy some?. what do you think its new packaging?. i think i like the old kind better. what's you comment?. and how would you like it?.
I'm going to buy it, but the coins won't be staying in the packaging for very long so I don't really have a comment on that. It's kind of necessary to be able to read the rims of the Prez dollars though. That brings me to wonder, how many of you buy mints sets every year and leave them in their original packaging permanently?
Hi Folks: Quick reply....normaly buy three mint sets. Two remain in original packaging and one is boken up for coin alblums...same with proof sets. Ken
read the rim how you gonna read the rim?. by looking at the picture. the coins were inserted into a cardboard. please tell us how?.
I will do my best to try to explain Elaine. Have you seen a Presidential Dollar proof set? The coins are in plastic but raised above the level of the holder so that the rims are readable. It is my impression (note: NO KNOWLEDGE, only conjecture) from the pictures that I have seen of the new Mint Sets are exactly the same way. Another item to compare it to would be any of the Coin and Currency sets of the 1990s. The coin is in a plastic capsule and can be rotated within the capsule in order to make the presentation come out perfectly. As for whether or not I buy sets... I buy at least 3 of each proof set and silver proof set, and at least 3 if not more of the Unc sets. I NEVER break them up for albums, but rather I keep them in their mint packaging to sell later down the road of they become valuable like the 2004 sets did. P.S. I did NOT buy any presidential dollar proof sets.
I read that the coins would be raised off the cardboard so you could read the rims....maybe I'm wrong?
thanks mikenoodle i checked the prez proof set. yes it can view the rim. but i doubt we can see the rim on mint unc set. look at the picture. it won't tell that you can view it.
As it stands right now, I will purchase 10 of these sets. 5 for friends and the rest for me. I have a good feeling about this set for some unknown reason.
All: Just picked up 3 sets at the US mint sotre in DC. You can see the edges of the pres dollars. I liked the new packaging, It is much more stable than previous years!!
I get mine through the mints subscription program. I signed up for every release except the gold coins
Auto order for my Son from the Mint subscription program...maybe when he is 25 they will be at the price point where I bought them...LOL RickieB
