Personally, I've been a member for about 5 years. I joined only get get the NGC submission privileges, but soon discovered that I learn a lot from the magazine and enjoy reading it. Plus, I live near Colorado Springs, co I can visit the money museum. I haven't bothered taking any of their classes yet, but I'm planning on doing the distance learning ones soon.
I had been an ANA member from 1985-1989 and, at the time, did not have the funds to renew. In 2013, Stack's offered a free online membership for one year that was advertised in Coin World and mentioned here on Coin Talk. I enjoyed my return membership and decided to renew for three years until 2017.
Since 1995. On my way to week 1 of the Summer Seminar to teach the Morgan dollar class. Waiting for my flight as I type.
Yes. Can't remember for how long but something in the 10-15 year range. Been to two Summer Seminar classes, both the same year (about 3 years ago). Grading 1 and Grading 2 Ah ha! My signature says ANA Member.
I joined last year to get into the chicago show early, and get a gold kennedy. I will let it expire (if it hasn't already).
Joined under the free Heritage offer, didn't seem to have any benefits for me and didn't notice when it expired.
I joined in 1971 and, amazingly, am still a member. There have been times when I was tempted to not pay my dues, but somehow I've always decided in the affirmative. My daughter lives in Chicago, so it's been fun to go to the World's Fair of Money the last 2 years plus this year. You get in free with ANA membership.
I forgot to say that the Numismatist has lots of interesting articles, but I often don't get around to reading them.
1972 as a YN - although I don't remember having a J# - became a life member years later when I became a member of the work force.
Really? I briefly looked into Hugh Wood insurance before and looked at their application. I didn't find any requirement to be an ANA member (although they do have a plan for ANA members specifically, IIRC).
Well I remember when I purposely let my ANA membership lapse. Hugh Wood was very quick to let me know that I needed to be a member to be covered. Although nothing was said maybe they meant at my current rate.
Same here kanga. The rate is much higher if you are not a member. It's worth the cost of being a member of ANA. It's even better because you can use NGC as well.
I literally just joined last night for the first time! I figure I'll check it out and see if I like it. I'm not entirely sure that my collection is worth insuring at this point, but I've heard good things about Hugh Wood, so I like the idea of that discount.
