I have three coins they may have possible errors and I'm looking for opinions. The first one is a 1979-D US quarter. The D mint mark is completely filled in. Is this common or is this some type of error? What appears to be a scratch doesn't look to me like a scratch at all. There isn't any raised areas, debris, or discoloration associated with a scratch. It's almost as if something was stuck to the die and got stamped into the coin. It has a "scratch" similar to the cent above under FDR's chin, but it could very well be just a scratch. good eye, the first one is very common, the 2nd does look like it could be a strike through, but its probably just a dent, the dime may be an error.
First one is the result of a die chip, fairly common. The second is a strike through, interesting but not overly valuable. I'm not sure what if anything is going on on the dime, can't really see anything definite in the picture. Looks like a dent.
The "error" on the dime is more subtle and hard to see in the photos. At first I thought it was a scratch, but on closer inspection it appeared to be an indentation similar in appearence to the strike through on the Canadian cent.
BOTTOM LINE, Yes they are types of errors. At some point in the future they maybe considered types or at least my be worth a fe cents or dollars more then one with out such errors. But that would more then likly be well over 50 years from now.
