I've been planning on buying the 1932 D and S quarters for my Washington collection, and I'm looking to spend less than $100 on each. I was looking on eBay this morning and these two stood out from the rest: http://www.ebay.com/itm/KEY-DATE-1932-D-WASHINGTON-QUARTER-DOLLAR-KEY-DATE-SILVER-/370623381095?pt=Coins_US_Individual&hash=item564adffe67 http://www.ebay.com/itm/1932-S-Washington-Silver-Quarter-Get-the-good-1-tough-date-rare-as-all-can-be-/261098078203?pt=Coins_US_Individual&hash=item3ccaa87ffb From the pictures, they both look authentic to me. What's your opinion?
I believe the '32-D to be genuine. The "D" has the correct tilt and normal darkening for examples of this grade. Most added mintmarks have the angle wrong and lack the proper "ponding" surrounding the mark. The seller has a 14 day return policy... plenty of time to get the coin verified, either by yourself or a reputable dealer. As far as the '32-S, nothing jumps out, however the pics are quite small to see any detail around the mm. No return policy, but you're still covered by buyer protection. If low grade examples are on your agenda, you'll probably be safe with these two.
I zoomed in as much as I could with the S, and its hard to see any problems. The "font" of the S looks correct for the condition the quarter is in. I agree with the above, in that you should take advantage of the return policy if the quarters look funny when you get them. Conduct a Google Image search and compare what you find with the quarters in-hand. If they look good, great. If not, take them to an expert who can look at them with magnification in person.
