I collect Canada 10 cents silver coins and would these be harder to sell because they’re not as popular as other coins? Or is there a big enough market where I wouldn’t have to worry about finding a buyer?
I do North American Coins - shows and online. Canadian coins have been slow movers for me vs US. However they offer a collecting opportunity with their low pops. Many are a really super deal vs US.
All Canadian coins in the US have a massively lower base of buyers. Always has been true, at least last 40 years.
Many people like Canadians, but it is true that there are less people, at least in the United States, interested in Canadian coins than U.S. coins. That being said, I still think there is a market for them if you were to sell them, it just might take a little more time to find.
I’ve been able to find some great deals on eBay but was wondering if I tried reselling some of them, if it would be hard. I guess it will be a little harder but it is true they make better collecting opportunities.
Unless a collector collects Canadian coins, many here in the USA look at them for their silver content, so that's what they would pay, IMHO.
I love Canadian coinage . Here's my latest pickups . If you have nice coins, selling them shouldn't be a issue .
In general, I think that there is a collector bias toward half dollar/dollar sized silver coins, regardless of country. To take just one example, I've noticed that my surplus Canadian 5 cent silver pieces don't seem to have a lot of takers, whereas dollar/half dollar lots and key dates alike seem to sell rather quickly.
I will buy Canadian silver when it is offered (dimes included) but only if I can get it around spot/melt. When you go to sell it I'm sure there are others out there like me that will take what you have. You just have to make sure it is priced right. For me, I could care less if a foreign coin is BU or Uncirculated, it is still only worth the silver to me. Others probably think differently.
