Awesome coin. Unfortunately I had to settle for Gordian III. My other hobbies don'the leave me with the coin budget for uncle Gordian and grandpa Gordian. Congrats on an awesome acquisition

I don't mind you getting this one as I couldn't afford one anyway. Very nice!

I should really quit collecting fountain pens to be able to afford cooler coins. I just don't think I can do it though, I love fountain pens as much as I love coins. I'm almost ashamed to admit that I probably spend as much time researching fountain pen inks as I do ancient coins.

Some people appreciate fine writing more than others. This is the last one I bought, a Pilot Custom 823 from Japan, with the nicest 14K gold nib I've ever had the pleasure of using. I love demonstrator fountain pens like this one that allow you to see the ink inside the barrel, as well as the filling mechanism, which in this case is a vacuum filler.

I have fountain pens ranging from 1905 all the way to the present. I've probably spent as much on a fountain pen before as some would spend to get an Athenian owl in XF condition. I don't expect you to understand that, just like I'm sure non-coin collectors won't understand how someone could spend S100, and much less $500 or $1000 on a coin.

    Interesting.

Just yesterday evening my wife and I had another discussion about my coin collecting. She feels it is akin to hoarding and has no understanding of why I might want to collect Ancient coins and no matter what I say I never get through to her. But she does know it is MY hobby and it brings a bit of joy into my world.

My other hobby was being into collected insects. I had 12,000+mounted specimens/all in calif. academy drawers/cabinets. i started selling them, sold 200K so far, still have 80 percent....this helps greatly in getting my more beloved coins. Here are some photos, this was also a GREAT hobby!

Bing....collecting coins is not hoarding, it is rather you protecting historical artifacts and being passionate about their historical value. Hoarders accumulate crazy things like 189 cats living in one house...."Animal Cops...Detroit"

I learned to appreciate butterflies after watching this movie (one of my favorites)

Not my photo, but I often photo the butterflies in my backyard. Little miracles of nature.

Great movie...French Guiana is even today a "hot area" for collecting insects. One swallowtail, papilio chansiades maroni is endemic to that region. One sold in Paris for 12K EUROS. Sadly, insane import/collecting laws are killing the hobby.

I had to trim quite a few hedges to get that one, but....$ is there to buy COINS! and others nice things:):):):):):):):) in life. Otherwise, its pretty boring. Also, best investment you can make!
