April 6, 1917, US Congress Declares War on Germany: Post a 1917 Coin

On April 6, 1917 the US Congress declared war on Imperial Germany. In many regards this could be considered the beginning of "The American Century" (although I for one believe the American Century continues today). By June 1917 the US had only 14,000 troops in the European Theater. It took a while to get going, but by May of 1918 there were over 1,000,000 troops in theater. By June 1918 troops were arriving in theater at the rate of 10,000 a day.

While the US may have been the Arsenal of Democracy in WW2, in WW1 much of the equipment that the US military used (except for the US Navy) was produced by France and Great Britain.

Sadly the War to End All Wars did not stop wars. What it did do was destroy the Imperial (e.g. ruled by Emperors) system in Europe, weaken the Eurocentric Empire System in the world, lead to the rise of communism and, courtesy of the Treaty of Versailles, sow the seeds for World War II.

Post a coin from 1917 in remembrance of this event. Given the World wide impact of the War to End All Wars, coins from any country involved in the war are welcome in this thread.
