Raw 5 oz silver coins being hawked for $599 - then the certified options will be available online tomorrow without a price being mentioned. So I bet this is the process - all 5 oz coins on hand were sent to be certified and those not graded 69’s or 70’s returned by the grading company will be put back into their OGP and sent out to those who paid $599. The graded coins will be priced based on how many made the cut - somewhere into the stratosphere. I bet they have the skull and crossbones flying over HSN headquarters tonight!!!
I always thought that bulk submitters can request a coin not be slabbed if it did not receive the desired grade
Probably more like anything not a 70 or just a fixed number of 69s where after that number they'd come back raw.
Some yes, if they aren't limiting the number of them they get back though they are often getting rather generous results from the lower tier grading services from the numbers they advertise
My DVR records this show. First showing he said they started with about 350. At one point, he actually mentioned they are on back order at the Mint website right now. But then said the Mint won't fill all the backorders and that thousands of backorder customers will be turned down "just like the baseball coin". But holy cow does the 5oz coin look good in HD (which is why I record the show, I won't have the coin til May). Comes with a thick plastic capsule. He only had mock ups of the other coins.
How did HSN get all those coins?! About 2 weeks ago I asked a big online dealer if they will be offering any of the 5oz silver Apollo 11 coins and the dealer said that even dealers were limited to 5 coins per purchase. So how did HSN get all those coins?! Something doesn't smell right!
I just went onto the HSN website and did a search for "Apollo 11 coin" and here's what I got: https://www.hsn.com/search?query=apollo 11 coin EVERY coin that was limited to us - the gold and silver coins - and that was limited to all dealers is not only being sold on HSN, but is ALREADY GRADED. Any Class Action lawyers in the house? I want my $1.27 check along with HSN and the Mint not being allowed to pull that kind of thing again! That's monopolizing, price setting, etc.
Because household limits never stop big sellers from getting big quantities. Been saying it for a long time and time and time again it’s proven true. At best the limits just make things more expensive on the aftermarket when they actually sell out
With an outfit the size of HSN, I suspect many of the employees are asked to purchase them for the show and then reimbursed (Maybe with a premium, maybe without). I received an e-mail from a big dealer offering to give me a $75 premium per coin if I'd purchase 5 of them. I had to leave them in the original shipping container too. I have never responded to offers like these, but it's not the first time I've received this type of offer for a US Mint release.
Exactly. They get what they can on their own with their own employees and if they want more they buy them where the extra cost is included in the new sale price.
The Coin Vault is hawking the 5 oz proof dollar graded 70 UC for $899.98 on the SALE channel. NGC but no pictures of the slab. Free shipping. Probably back ordered while they get them slabbed.
