Vlad: So, I assume that you are selling? Hmm....I agree, never heard of them, not regular advertisers in Coin World or Numismatic News. Any barber coins? The Other Frank
APMEX is located in Oklahoma City (actually, Edmond, Oklahoma which is a suburb of Oklahoma City). I've dealt with APMEX many times in person. They're very, very professional and literally deal in hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of transactions every day. They've recently expanded and moved into a new shop which is very clean and organized. Most important to me, however, is the fact that I think they're some of the most trustworthy people in the business. And, before anyone asks, NO, I'm not associated with APMEX in any way nor employed by them in any manner. I'm just a coin collector who has dealt with them and found them to be among the best.
I agree with CoinOKC APMEX is a vary good company too do bussinss. I have never sold anything too them but I have bought hunderds of coins and oz. of silver bars from them and I have has no problems doing business with them. They are fast and very professional.
I concur with the 2 previous posts. APMEX is a very good, reputable company. They are not out to "screw" anybody. I have dealt with them on 2 occasions (purchasing) and have never had a problem. Matter of fact, a buddy of mine, has purchased a lot from them this year, and he received a Christmas gift from them. Good people to work with. Delawarejones
APMEX.. a great place to buy bullion... as for selling, they give good prices for the more common bullion ones ( a bit over spot on ASE and maple leafs) but not so good on other foreign silver (They sell a britannia for $28 but will only pay you spot for it - thats what the phone rep. told me)
Let me know what you're looking for and I'll take a quick look at the local dealer (also quite large, but probably not as big as Apmex) and see what their prices are. I think I've looked at both places and the local place was a tad cheaper (which might be more than a tad with a $10K purchase). They're located in the town I work in... California Numismatic Investments (CNI) 525 West Manchester Blvd. Inglewood, CA. 90301 For example... 2006 Gold Buffalo Coins (1 Ounce) Apmex: $661.71 (20 or more $658.56 ea) CNI: $656.00 ea. -but the prices fluctuate so much that you'd have to call both at the time you are ready to purchase, no point in worry about a dollar here or there until you are ready to pull the trigger.
I have purchased from CNI also. However, they have now instituted a minimum purchase amount for bullion (at least gold). I agree that their prices are a bit lower than APMEX.
I have purchase from APMEX on numerous occasions and have found them to be very professional. I haven't sold anything to them yet though. Dave
