Hard to imagine that APMEX didn't realize this was fake before listing it on eBay. Verify at NGC shows a real 1 Pound coin with the correct dimensions. APMEX had it priced like a 1 Pound coin, but clearly the fake is meant to look like a 5 Pound coin instead. I'm wondering if someone thought they were getting a great "deal" on what they assumed was a mechanical error at NGC with the coin incorrectly attributed on the holder. A close inspection of the coin online suggests it isn't real; the legend under the quadriga looks blobby and not well defined. Reasonably deceptive fake holder though. APMEX has a disclaimer at the bottom of the eBay listing saying "This is not a photo of the actual item. The photos are meant to be an indication of the product you will receive". Trying to decide if the listing is a result of APMEX incompetence or outright consumer fraud using a digitally altered photograph to suggest the coin is five times bigger than it really is. In either case, it's unacceptable. I sent a complaint to NGC. Will be interesting to hear what they have to say about it.
