279E3A62-4151-46B8-BA1E-38FD8A80BBA9.jpeg This box of nickels is going up for bid this weekend at an auction near me. I was trying to guess the age of the box to determine if I’d be worth hunting. Does anyone recognize it? All I could find out was Wells Fargo merged with Loomis back in 1997. Since the box doesn’t mention Loomis would it be safe to assume it’s older than that?

It might make a nice Christmas present for a searcher, but it is very hard to estimate as some banks had their turned in coins re-rolled and returned, which this box could be, or all could be unc, or mixed. I suspect it should go for less than $150, but if there are 2 nickel collectors or 1 collector and 1 shill, it could go for much much , too much more. If the box indicated 1950 era , it would really be fun as most varieties worth money seemed to be greatly reduced after the 1950s.

I wonder how "authentic" that tape is.

Looks like the left side might be open. Are you allowed to peak into it?

Wells Fargo Armored Services merged with and became Loomis in 1997.
