    I picked up this one...

HERENNIA ETRUSCILLA Viminacium, Æ28, Moesia betw lion & bull, F, olive green patina, basically full lgnds, minor roughness, fully clear features

Fills a hole in my collection. I also tried to buy an Herennius Etruscus ant but someone beat me to the punch, and that was only 30 minutes after the sale started!

Saw the list, for once there wasn't anything I really wanted or needed and I usually buy several when he has the list released.

I almost pulled the trigger on the Neanderthal piece. ;)
I've taken the 23andme DNA analysis and there is quite a bit of Neanderthal markers in my background.

I looked at the list twice today. Meanwhile someone bought a lot of coins. There were some decent things in the category of which I have too many already. I hope more of you bought them and will post photos when they arrive. I have to admit wondering how many orders for Oog he received. I wish one of our number would design one. Hint.

Immediately after reading the listing I think of captain caveman! So he would be on the obverse:

Anyway, I couldn't help myself and bid on
    58, 79, 82 and 105.
A Greek that could end up being a Jem. A couple RRs. And that fun sounding Sabina (I'll Post that portrait and em all when they arrive).

I tried to order a few within 10-15 minutes... and they were already sold.

Quite honestly I was shocked at the speed this list evacuated. We see on CT plenty of people showing expensive, high grade coins and another group sharing low grade finds (from uncleaned lots?) but not as many coins I would call mid to low end but very collectible in the $20 bracket. Results on Bing's sales and the last rounds of John Anthony's did not show as much interest in middle of the road, easily identifiable 'collector grade' (not investment) coins. Obviously there are those out there who are looking for a coin neither mint state nor worth the price of a slab. Maybe there is hope for the hobby.

Yes, my first two auctions did not garner the attention I expected, but I'm not disappointed. I have to pry each and every coin I sell out of my grubby paws every time one sells. Perhaps future sales will pick up.

I picked up 9 coins from the fixed list today.
The last time he did this I responded within about 10 minutes with an order but they were all gone. So a super stressful quick scan this time, order placed and I was successful.. we will see if this is a good thing or not I suppose... I will post when they arrive so the jury can decide...

    CARTHAGE, Æ18, Date palm/Horse head $11.65
    Cleopatra VII, Cyprus Æ11 (yes...I know...but still cool...) $11.50
    PARTHIA, Mithradates I, Æ13 $17.45
    REPUBLIC. As, Janus head/Prow $12.75
    Mark Antony, Legionary.. Leg V...$15.75
TIBERIUS, As, countermark TI•C•A (sounds like a worn to blank flan with the countermark?) $8.95
    NERO, As, SC, Victory $6.75
DOMITIAN, AS CAESAR, As, SC Spes $11.85
    POSTUMUS, Ant, MONETA $14.40

At the moment I am not sure if I am more upset that I didn't order more or that I ordered too many? Proof will be in the pudding. With the exception of the Nero and Tiberius these coins are from rulers/areas that have been on my list for awhile and are not in my collection.. so I am pretty excited!

Of course we are rooting for you being so happy that you wish you had bought more but this is very much a matter of making your desires and expectations align with the actual coins. If you stay with the hobby for many years, you probably will wonder, "What was I thinking?" at some point. I hope you will realize then that these coins served an important role in your hobby development. People who only collect mint state coins don't read my posts anyway so I can share the secret. Don't worry about making mistakes. If you are (wisely!) only spending hobby money and not your retirement investments (whether that is a hundred a year or a million a month) learn what you can from those coins and enjoy them. I still kick myself for not buying a couple coins thirty years ago and I have a box full of what I call 'trade stock' that no one wants. Neither of those are as serious mistakes as my still worrying about it. Enjoy.

Usually Frank’s condition descriptions are accurate to conservative. I ordered some ten coins in three mails. The first (Elymais) were all there, but probably he has doubles and triples of these. The second batch (Alexandria and Fulvia) were all gone. The third batch will be the great surprise next week when the parcel arrives. I’m curious for the stamps.

I think you'll be happy with it. I have one that sounds very similar:

You snooze, you lose... I went to bed a little early yesterday and missed Frank's e-mail. By the time I woke up, there was hardly anything left.

A bit later on (after I started this thread) I picked this one up.

FAUSTINA SR., Den, AETERNITAS, Aeternitas veiled, F+, sl off-ctr, some lgnd crudeness, good bright metal.

Another hole filled in the collection. Didn't have a Faustina. As Doug says, it may be one I upgrade over time but for now I am satisfied. My goal is a coin of every empress and emperor, and assorted caesars, cousins, nephews and whomever else struck coins.

I have purchased many coins, particularly ancient Chinese, for many years. Sadly missed out on coins I needed on the bargain list. Congrats on the good pick ups!
