Anyone notice that registry sets are using satin finish since 2005

It seems like most (all) of the 2005 onward coins are satin. I'd like to start a set of Roosevelts from 2005 onward (PCGS) as high a grade as I can find with no satins included. It seems like eventually these high level guys are going to want to complete these sets with the business strikes.

    Hey Dan,
I don't know about NGC, but with PCGS all the registry sets for modern coinage contain both business strike and satin finish coins. It would be nice if they had sets with either/or.

I just do not see that at the link I provided. That is the top set and it appears to have satin only.

I went ahead and took a look and based on what I am seeing, you can either have a set that is all business strikes or both business and satin, but not satin alone. The way I figured what sets were available was that I entered in some of my PCGS graded dimes. Then I did a search to see what sets my dimes qualified for. All the different type of Roosevelt dime collections popped up. This is how I was able to see what was available. I don't know of any other way to do it.

In that top set all the 2005-2008's are ms69 (listed as SP69- not sure what SP stands for?). Those must be all satin, no way you can have all 69's as biz strike.

I don't know....with a lot of dimes at your disposal and with the right sources and the right amount of money anything is possible. Personally, I collect sacs and although MS69 business strikes are rare, they are out there.

As far as the MS69SP, those are satin. Who knows. I don't collect certified dimes so I was only speaking from my experience with the sacs. I'll shut up know.
