Just wondering how many detectorist are on here..it's obviously a good way to find old coins.. Sent from my i9305 quad core on 4g.
I metal detect but don't get out as much as I want to. However the old coins are few and far between for me. Have found a few Merc's and silver Washington Quarters, but nothing super spectacular.
I used to thats how I got started. There out there and I have had great luck. Just wish I got to do it more.
I do it when i can find a land owner that will let me on the property. Seems most think you know there is something there and they dont want you to find it even though they cant. Its a little unreal but here in Carolina thats the way it is. I got lucky last year and found a great place named Annie Lees hotel. She is the daughter of Robert E Lee and she use to be buried in warrenton aon a small gravled road off us 401. A friend told me it was ok to go that the owner was sick and didnt mind anyone going. The guy looking after the land was nice about it but said i couldnt go back as he has posted the land. Thats about it for this town nothing exciteing ever happens but warrenton is an old town and i know there is much to be found. But ill never get to see much of it as all the good places are posted and the owners are for real buttholes.
I metal detect. I just posted i think in the wrong area though. I found a mass oak tree coin 1662 small 2. Some people told me to not bother getting it graded since it came out of the ground. Best find so far. Same area i pulled out a 1700 copper, 1866 shield nickel with rays, 1898 indian head, and a couple of wheaties. Just thought i would share.
