I like your TD's-- both of those Centennial year coins are nicely struck. I collect the business strikes by date, MM, and to some extent by variety. Here are a couple from my collection (the 78-S is a DDR, picked off eBay)
Those are very nice coins. I would love all you can GIVE me. However, they are way over my price line.
Ever since I was a young lad I've loved these coins. Oddly enough I don't own one. One of these days I must rectify that. Thanks for the post Larry, and thanks for the pics guys......
Thats a beauty. I would love have all the varieties/dates that exist, would settle for high grade circulated p.s. notice the right breast , sorta sticks out! very thin cloth cover. makes one to wonder if the public were offend when coin went into circulation, or if they even noticed.
There are Chinese sellers selling them for some really low prices... and they look almost as good as authentic ones!
I know, I know! My point is, if anyone is the least bit unfamiliar with the series, it would be wise to but a slabbed one from a trusted dealer. There are more counterfeits than real trade dollars out there, and there are probably plenty of fake slabs on ebay too I bet.
I have always wondered something about these. Why is it that so many in AU or low MS grades have fields that look like they lost a war? They just seem to be a bit different to other coin types to me.
