I have been told that the first color in the progression of toning is gold. Just cut a few of these out if their cellophane.

    I do not like those.
I like the reverse, but it's better on an Ike.

I know the obverse was a flop.
These coins have incredible luster and wonderful tones.

I don't like them very much. I spend each and every one of them darn things! ;)

Nobody wanted them stateside so they sent them to all of us soldiers overseas. I rather grew an affinity for them having to use them daily.

I love them. Maybe it's the association with my childhood collecting (I was 10 when the SBAs were released) and remembering my grandma continuously confusing them for quarters lol.

    When they tone nicely though...!

I don't know that I like them, per se, but I did put together a set back in the day because it was attainable in high grades. Even added the 1999's when they came out.

My wife brought them home from her beauty shop whenever she would get them. I have a full set and thing they are much better than the "gold" dollars.

Found this one in a coin star and then someone mentioned it was MAD as well. The condition was pretty good (XF/AU?) and it's low mintage. But overall this series was a dud. I think I have 16 from metal detecting so that's always a score.

I agree for a small dollar they have much more character.

I haven't ever looked at how they grade these coins, the majority that I have come across are baggy. I am gonna have to take a look.

I agree many lack great eye appeal. I was referring to the fact that MS and proof specimens were affordable to the average collector. I should have phrased it better. Now that you mention it, I haven't checked the market for them in forever.

I was just looking over coinfacts. It takes a 67 to make any money on them. There are a few 68's in early years.

We gave one to our granddaughter she took to her great grandma handed it to her and said, "here's your picture back grandma." Gotta love her! Thanks for the memory @Pickin and Grinin
