I guess you never of looking it up on the VAM site ?

 

I did. Looks like a 1 but the eagle has a clash that looks like a horn and some beard hair that 1 doesn't say anything about

 

Horn? Beard hair? Where? Can you enlarge this area?

Vam 1c doesnt say anything about this. It isnt a super clear pic. Much more noticable in hand, but its there

 

Looks like VAM 27.2.

 

hmm.... after further review.....tricky. the 1 is centered over the 4th denticle and the bottom of the one covers equal amounts of the 3rd and 5th denticles. That's a "semi-far" date). the tops of the 1 and 7 are doubled. and there is the clash under the bird's head, which is a feature of the VAM 27.

I now have a headache. Someone else wanna play with this??

 

I guess I'll call it a vam 27 w/ a possibility of it being something else. Or just a 1887 w/ a horn and beard on the eagle
