Not finding much on these. They're PCGS Artist Edition Bicentennial proofs. Each are #130 of 500. Kinda strange the half and dollar are slabbed reverse first and the quarter isn't. So anyone have the story behind these? ballpark value? The serial number just pulls up standard pop report and doesn't recognize the special lables.
A promotion of Les Fox of Fox Numismatics. He had sets made up signed by the designers, sets made up signed by Gerald Ford, etc. Basically you see PCGS slabs with a similar style label with signatures on them it is probably a Les Fox promotional gimmick. Sometimes the signatures are hand signed and sometimes they are autopenned. I think most of them are autopenned. He would sell as many as he could at his promotional prices and then just blow out the rest in bulk lots. And don't let that 130 of 500 make you think there were only 500 sets. He had multiple groups of 500 sets each.
Thanks for the info. I'm only in 'em at 50 clams, so there's no problem there. I really like the set, but if they are infact autopenned it kinda makes 'em feel cheap. Add that to the fact the quarter doesn't match the others, I may just ebay 'em and grab a different set.
