their was a link going around for the feds back when the george washington smooth edge errors were big and if anyone has it pls post it as i have just gotten beat by some creep on ebay
i never heard of one for the Feds... got a link to the ebay sale so everyone can see what your talking about ? are you going to leave a neg ?? or ask for your money back
unbelievable his ebay name is ambitiouscustoms and he sold one coin on ebay and i was a bidder he then contacted me and sold it to me off of ebay ,btw do both parties get in trouble for that or just the seller ...and check this out after it comes back from icg and it is a fake and i send it back first he is taking his sweet time refunding money and he has the nerve to ask for a 15% re stock fee , his name is jason and he is from alabama ,he sells mostly car parts ,a system that makes flames shoot out of emission pipes...this guy is a real piece of work he swore up and down that he found coin in new roll
Number one, don't want to sound rude, but why did you buy a coin from a guy who sells car parts? That would be warning sign number one IMO. And also if you didn't do anything wrong, I wouldn't be worried. Best of luck with him. Phoenix
I agree, it amazes me that people don't put more of an effort into who they buy from. These adams smooth edges showed up in michigan and michigan only, so if there are any sellers outside of micihgan you need to check their feedback and see if they bought the coin from someone who actually found one in Michigan. Furthermore, I still can't figure out why people will bid on a smooth edge from someone with little or no feedback when there is always listings from sellers who have a history of selling coins or have been around for a few years with 100% feedback.
Jefferson smooth edge on ebay right now So far there has only been one legit reported , but here is what appears to be the first fake on ebay. His ebay id is starr1933 and he has also been selling fake Adams under the username jeremy_w21 and gvcollegechick.
Yes you do, but not if you contact the buyer through the eBay system If you do that then eBay wants their cut of the deal.
There is nothing wrong with buying raw from an unknown person, but it requires a couple tools and a little knowledge. Coin diameter is 1.043 inches +/- 0.003 inches. One needs to measure the diameter using a caliber with the appropriate accuracy. Check for washington dollar converted to XXXXX dollar. Using a good loupe, check to see if the washington side has been lathed out of smooth edge washington dollar and an adams/jefferson/etc... face has been dropped in. All that said, I don't understand why someone would buy a raw one sight unseen.
