I personally have a really good system. I will select over Oct./Nov. my best 3 coin parcels that arrive via the mailman. I will then have my wife wrap them up for the big day, and thus I have some exciting presents to open on Christmas morning. My wife loves it too, since she knows how much I love my coins. How about you guys/ gals?
I am waiting to see...... I know a few people that have gave me hints! I will post my coins after Christmas. Merry Christmas to you!
I'm getting a sweater and a pair of new boots! I hope... I'm also giving my vegan friend a vegan cookbook.
With the incidences of sock disappearances in this neck of the woods (can't find the blasted 'mate'), such a gift would be most welcomed here.
Mrs. TheRed will get me a coin from time to time. Now that she knows my Vcoins info I have high hopes. Here is a Lysimachus drachm she gave me list year.
Good L-rd, I hope so!! Definitely coin related at least. Also there is the monthly Coin Club show on Wednesday. I plan to go so my 3 year old can “get” me a present . I also need a BU Morgan or Peace Dollar for my Wife’s stocking. All that aside, I’m guaranteed to get coins, from both Secret Santa and Saturnalia!
That's dang good thinking right there! I'll have to do that next year and do my wife and myself a favor. As is, my dad and I will get eachother coins for Christmas. We've been doing it the last few years and he always surprises me with something cool. A merry Christmas to you and yours @panzerman!
I never really want much for Christmas.... so I am very hard to shop for, I'm told. I just bought two nice gold coins last night that were both kind of unexpected (I was trying to slow my purchasing down a bit, lol), so I guess those can be my gifts from my wife?? Here's one...
I tell my family not to buy me coins. However, that does not preclude gift certificates from a favorite dealer.
My wife and I havent bought gifts for one another for perhaps 10 years now. If we want something we just buy it (within reason of course. I would love to own a 1956 VW, for personal reasons). But, my mother in law always seems to give me each year, socks, pajama pants, and a long sleeve shirt. I love them all and always look forward to them. I have only received two coins as gifts over the years, both about 35 years ago. I still have them:
My wife knows better. One Christmas it was a nice 1927-34 Crown, but it wasn't "nice enough". The agreement is that I don't buy her clothes and she doesn't buy me coins.
My Father in-law gives me $100 each year. It's kind of awesome as from my side of the family I get the obligatory ugly Christmas sweater. (or some sweater that doesn't fit). and my wife/kids get me slippers/ties/razors. I look forward to the $100 - it equals a no guilt purchase.... which is very rare around these parts.
